Today was an incredible day. Heart of the Rockies Community Church held our first baptism service, and God really blessed our day. We decided to hold this service outside on the banks of the Arkansas River in downtown Salida. The Arkansas River is now about 54 degrees, so we were really praying for some sunshine, and we got it!
Part of our process for getting baptized is meeting individually with a pastor (me) and discussing what is baptism (and what it is not), and what the biblical model is for baptism. I also discussed with each person where they are in their faith journey and why they wanted to baptized. We really emphasized that baptism is a public statement about your private commitment. These discussions were so uplifting for me this week. Then to actually be able to baptize these folks was something I will not forget. 73 people attended our service! That was very surprising to me, as I knew about 15 of our regular attendees were going to be out of town. Hopefully some of the people visiting will come back and visit us again!
Anyhow...today was a great day and we are excited to share it with you!
