Ministry Update

Howdy! It has been a while since I have posted anything...sorry I will try and be more timely. Thankfully Nancy has been good to provide some updates.

Some great things are happening. First off you might remember me mentioning a man named Aaron who accepted Christ as his savior a couple months ago. The Holy Spirit has been doing a lot of great things in him and through him. This week he is starting a new small group with about 10 guys...3-4 of the guys are not yet Christians. Aaron owns his own construction company, and several of the non-Christians are in the construction field. I have met quite a few of the guys, and this is a good group. They are going to be reading through Lee Stroebel's book the Case for Christ. It is going to be fun to see what happens in this group. Helping Aaron lead this study are a couple great guys from 1st Baptist in Salida. I love seeing guys from both churches come together for this bible study! Please be in prayer for this group...they start tonight!

Speaking of tonight, Nancy and I are going to be working at AWANA. There are about 50 kids in the Salida AWANA club. Should be fun!

Last night was an awesome night for HRCC. Over the past couple weekends at church we have been laying the ground work for two important things: 1) the importance of everyone being in a small group 2) the importance of everyone serving in some fashion. Last Sunday we had our first sort of "sign up Sunday". We are looking for more help on the worship team, Sunday school, set up team, and the "Welcome" team. We added a little bench strength...but could use some more people to sign up.

Last night the growing worship team got together to rehearse for this weekend...they sounded great. We had 2 acoustical guitars, an acoustical base, an electric guitar, a piano, and the congos...plus a couple more singers. For HRCC this is a lot of instrumentalists in one setting. Usually we have 2 or 3 on any given Sunday. This Sunday all 6 are going to play together...should be fun. My prayer is that we will get enough people on the worship team to be able to rotate people enough to avoid any burn out.

We also had a Sunday School meeting last night. There are 4 super ladies on this team...and one guy who has limited Sunday School experience but helps as he can (that guy being me!). I am excited about this team. Nancy is also a part of this team. We have now had a couple real productive meetings...and I am confident this team and this area of HRCC is going to develop nicely over the next couple weeks, months, and years. We really want to draw families with kids to HRCC, therefore we want our Sunday School to be top notch...while focusing on safety and security! We want kids to be anxious to get to Sunday School...fun and high energy, focused around the truth taught in the Bible!

Well I have to get back to work. I will write again before Sunday. We love your comments, please keep them coming! Also please continue to pray our house in Woodbury sells, we had a lot of folks through last weekend at an open house (thanks Debbie Pedde!).

BLESSINGS TO ALL!! Jim

Romans 12:2

Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.
