Ministry Work This Week

Here are some things I am working on this week:

  • Helping organize the worship team! Getting processes in place to enable this team to spend more time making a joyful noise versus wondering who is playing from week to week and also wondering what songs they are going to be playing from week to week. We have a good nucleus of people, my prayer is they can focus on helping create authentic worship instead of being bogged down in administration and planning. I also love going to worship practice just to sing along!

  • Get all the finances on Quickbooks, instead of hand written journals. This is going to take a couple weeks. I would like to get all of 2007 in Quickbooks, plus create a budget for 2008 to work to operate against that budget. With a start up church it is difficult to know your revenue, but we need to get something in place, and then monitor it closely.

  • Help in developing the core leadership team. Within the next several months we are going to establish the official first elder board. We are starting to meet as a group weekly for lunch to talk vision and strategy. Very good and healthy planning discussions.

  • Building a positive relationship with the 1st Baptist Church of Salida. There are lots of quality people in this church, and our hope is that this church can be a partner in ministry in Salida. This weekend I am going to attend their Men's retreat. I am going for the refreshing and to meet some other Christian men in the community. The retreat is at Horn Creek Ranch...should be fun.

  • Tonight is date night with Nancy! It is fun to try and find new restaurants that are cheap but have good food!

I tried something new this week. My brother-in-law Steve took me snow shoeing! It was fun and great exercise. We "shooed" up an old pass that crosses the continental divide. It was absolutely beautiful...snow was falling, and it was so quiet...except my panting! It was fun to get out and do something special to Colorado and to spend some time with Steve.

Well I have to get back to work. We really appreciate your prayers. Have an awesome day!

I forwarded a link to your blog to many neighbors and the small group - just in case they didn't already have it and they wanted to hear and see what you're up to! We miss you!!

Romans 12:2

Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.
